Guys, I'd like to add a right-side mirror and a rearview to the windshield or header. My first question is what makes this possible on the right side where there is no backing support for the screws and reinforcement.

My second question is about the rearview - did they mount to the metal work above the windshield or do they glue to the glass itself like modern autos?

    Thanks, Gordon

The original style inside rear view mirror mounted to a bracket, which was mounted to the roof/ceiling of the cab via metal screws.

    here at classic parts:

    60-66 mirror bracket

mirror head(or the mirror itself, needs the bracket)

My truck came with a later model mirror glued to the inside of the windshield, but it had a habit of falling enough, so it finally broke.

I found another basic one from a 2000s chevy in a junkyard and glued it into place.

    side mirrors.

    side mirror arm

you can get round or rectangular mirrors to mount on the arms.

Originals would have been painted for a base model, chrome I think for the custom cab models with the fancy trim.

classic parts has painted or stainless listed.

they mount with metal screws, which they also have listed. look under 60-66 and search for mirror, the options will come up.
