This might be a foolish question, but is my p/u really an 82? I've have him for over a year now, and have replaced parts from 81 and 82. Some people think he's an 81, but I bought him as an 82. Help! **I can't get the picture of his front end to load. I'll keep trying!** Attachments: https://talk.classicparts.com/images/attachments/42600b570a2cad28.jpghttps://talk.classicparts.com/images/attachments/42600b690ac4afb9.jpg
If you are like the most of us here (I am guessing) it won't really be either before to long... Lets see, my front axle is from a 76 my rear axle is from a 73 my doors are from an 85 the engine is from ??? but it is not the original, the steering collum is from an 87 the tranny and transfer case are out of a 73 etc... the important thing is the condition of the parts and if they fit right there is a whole mess of things that will fit from 73 to 87, The hood will not swap from 80 and later to 81 and newer, and I am sure there are other things that will not fit or that will have minor changes (the direction of the turn signal on the front fenders) but these type trucks are easy to find parts for, have fun with it...
hi i have an 85 silvarado and useually u can tell by the head light and grill from the front im guessing between 1980-82 . now 83 is when the changed the head light to daul.top is low beam .bottom is high:
1981 was the first year in this body style to have the 4 headlamp set up, also another way to tell if it's a 81 or 82 is the parking lamps in the front bumper...dead give away. Jesse Hazell Chevy Duty Tech.
year hummm Well just going buy the side shoot here it got to be a 81-up Unless they changed the front clip 73-80 had the nice side fender markers. 81-87 had the ugly side fender markers.
