Is it possible to add AC to an 84 Chevy pickup? Can you buy a universal AC unit for it? Any idea where i can find one for cheap?

    Thanks!

I dont know where to find an aftermarket a/c unit, but if you find someone parting out a Silverado or go to a local salvage yard you can take all the a/c parts off it to convert yours. This is pretty much what I'm doing, except I dont trust junkyard stuff so I will be spending the money to get a new compressor, evap core, and accumulater. The one thing you'd have to do is cut a new holes in your firewall for the evaporater core and heater core hoses.

And if you can find the condenser off a '94 or later vehicle that will fit in front of your radiator, take it. It's supposed to work much better if you do an r-134a conversion.;)

I put an aftermarket in a 79 GMC pickup. It just doesn't work as well a factory unit. If you can find original parts you might happier. I would also talk to as many AC shops that you can to find what might work best.
