If you really want the tilt column you can rebuild it. But if you aren't looking to do a lot of work you can put the '85 column in. The 85' has the wiper controls on the column, so you'll have a choice for how you want to set it up.

i just replaced the column in my 85 k10. i bought a rebuilt one from columns galore. my old one was wore out. this could be an option you could check out. it cost me about $300 but i feel it was worth it. the web site is www.columnsgalore.com

But the question is does the wiring match up? They did change over the years.

the wireing harnes should match up... The newer one as stated above will have some newer options but all in all yes it will work. I had the same problem with my blazer and put one in out of an "87".
