Hey everybody, I have a 77 3/4ton with full time four-wheel drive(soon to get converted to part time) and a 4 speed manual transmission. I think it has 3.73 gears but I am not 100% sure. I have a 292 straight 6 I can put in it or I might be able to get a 350 from a buddy. What I want to know is: will the 292 have enough power to pull a loaded livestock trailer(about 12,000lbs), and if so, what kind of mileage would I be looking at. Otherwise what kind of mileage could I get out of a 350. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hey 85silverado,
I took your advice and brought home the 350. It was bolted up to a th350 and that tranny was junk(in two pieces from an accident). What I was wondering is what flywheels will work on that 350 since its getting a 4 speed bolted on. When I measured the flexplate, its was a little over 14 inches, and when I measured the flywheel of one of my 292's, they were the same. Then I found that the bolts are smaller for the 350 than the 292 and the are also shorter. Am I going to have to get longer bolts for use of a flywheel? Any help will be greatly appreciated especially since dad wants the shed back next week for planting purposes
