I own a 1951 Chevrolet truck with a 235 engine, I swapped out the transmission with a 3 speed from a Pontiac. I am having a problem getting the linkage for 1st and reverse, 2nd and 3rd works great. When I try to change from 1st to 2nd, it seems like the linkage is binding and trying to lockup. I have to pull the shifter toward me, push up, try to find neutral then push the shifter back and try to find the correct spot to go to second, if I push to far the gear seems to bind, once I get into second gear the shift from 2nd to 3rd is wonderful. Any ideas on how to correct this problem will be greatly appreciated.
