i have a 1952 gmc pickup with a 228 engine after rebuilding engine oil leaks somewhere from either the pan or ? replaced oil seal on gear drive cover but no luck asked others at a car show and they say its normal? anyhow im tired of messing with a weak running engine and prefer to upgrade to a 350. does any one out there know what vehicle i could get for parts for example would a 1980's suburban stripped of its shell or another truck stripped and the cab of 1952 gmc be placed on another vehicle without many problems there doesn't seem to be a source out there that addresses cross over parts or cross over vehicle parts my 52 has a 4 spd transmission would a 350 or ? mount right up without probems or would i have to add ? plus motor mounts to get it to work? got lots of questions my email address is pauln82001@yahoo.com any answers would be helpful thanks go fast with class

The most straightforward way to go would be to install the 350 in your '52 GMC rather than mounting your cab on another frame. Chevyduty and other companies offer the mounts for the installation. The frame of an 80's suburban / truck would be too wide anyway. I don't know for sure but I doubt the original bell housing / transmission will bolt up so you may want to get the transmission from any donor vehicle you get the engine from. Good luck with your project.
