I have a 1958 Chevy 348,it has sufficient miles on it.The water pump is bad and it hasnt been run in years. It is in a car stored in shed.It has been rebuilt before. If u wish to contact me my email is chevrolet_2x4@yahoo.com.
howziit guys! believe it or not, the 348 had its humble beginnings...as a truck motor! annnddd, the 396 also saw action as OEM in chevy trucks.
Good luck on that 348 ! I have always wanted to put one in my truck but , only found 2 in the salvage yard around here . They were in side of a ford van for storage and the yard man wanted 1000.00 each for the block alone. Not knowing what ,where or how they got there . That was a couple years ago , far as I know there still sitting there . If you find one let me know of your progress , I would like to know what it would take $ and sweat to install one . Watch the Busted Nuckles. c-ya. Mike
howziit guys! for $1k on the blocks, that yard man is sitting on "fool's gold". definitely not worth $1K each. of course, the 348-409 is difficult to find, but had one here for $1000, needing a rebuild. several years ago, there was a 409/'55 chevy project car for $2K. these engines can be found in HEMMINGS, but prepare yourself to overpay. FWIW, you can easily buy a big-block core for under $1K, and build from there.
For Sale running & complete Chevy 348 $1500 I have a complete & running 348 that is now residing in a 1973 Chevy C50 dump truck. I will take $1500 for it complete from the carb to the flywheel, I live in Upstate NY, about 20 minutes from Binghamton. wcc@stny.rr.com
