I have a 4GC Rochester 4 bbl, and am planning to rebuild it. I dont know much about rebuilding carbs, and would like to know if there is a website that shows how to rebuild these older Rochester 4 bbls, or another inexpensive source. I have a Haynes Rochester book but it doesnt cover the 4GC's as far as rebuilding. I know... I should go with a newer style carb, but simply dont have the funds, and need a running Chevy. Thanks for any insight.

My advice would be to check eBay. When my old carb needed to be rebuilt, I ended up looking to eBay. I found a working (about 650CFM) Rochester Q-Jet spreadbore for $20 and about $6 shipping. Can't beat that, and the thing runs great! Most second-hand carbs don't sell worth a darn on eBay because they arent "Edelbrock" or "Holley", but even some of those two brands sell on occaision for pretty cheap.

    Happy huntin'!
