I have an otherwise nice looking stock 86 k5, but the underside has some serious cancer. The main part i cannot find, is the rear crossmember that the gate hinges bolt too that has rotted to the point that the gate no longer opens. I have looked, and to no avail. Every response is we dont carry that, or it has been discontinued. I know it isnt an uncommon problem as a friend had an 89 burb with the exact same issue, he sold it before he fixed it because he couldnt locate the parts to get it functionable for work use. Should anyone have a clue where i could find one, let me know. I have numerous projects, so its just one of the bunch, also have a 72 p/u. and a 67 shortbed been workin on, but those are both a whole nother story! Clint Kansas City
Could you fabricate a replacment piece and weld it in? That is what I would do! you can usually find good metal in scrap yards then you just gotta spend some time on it... Good luck! I had trouble finding some parts for the ol blazer too..
Chevy Duty has the rear sill...runs right at a 100...I stopped by there and took a look at their inventory, they have a lot of not so common parts, and have an fsbo board as well. I will have the ol blazer up and running soon, currently cracked a tranny cooler line and in the process of locating one, but have a 72 long bed i am about to tear down and give it some fresh metal, and get the cab back to only two floor vents in the kick panels instead of the 32 or so in the floor board, and remove someones creative idea gone bad, expandable foam rocker panels...?? I have a 350 to replace the 305 thats in it, the 305 is getting a freshining up and going into the Blazer to replace the boat anchor with all the life support tubes on it. Thank you for the reply!
