I have a 68 chevy fleetside and have put a set of 71 spindles on. I was wondering if I use ball joints meant for a 68 what woould be the problem? And if it is a BIG problem...then I have to get the uppers, lowers and sleeves for a 71?

According to my Hollander exchange book, Chevy series 10 from 1964 to 1971 spindles swap with each other, you sould not have any problems. I am assuming you have a series 10 in two wheel drive.
The whole knee assembly is the same from 1967 to 1971 10 series with 11 x 2 brake size, and the '69 and '70 Blazer and GMC 1500 series from '67 to '71 with 11 x 2 brakes, also the '70 Jimmy is the same. All of the above swap with each other.

70 is the last year of that style in 71 it takes a different ball joint. In 73 it changed again. The 71 ball joints are upper 1/2 ton 74-221 $49.95 and lower 74-222 $17.95
