I am restoring my '50 3100 and need some input on stock painting of drivetrain. Does anyone know how the bell housing and tranny were originally painted, or not painted? Thanks in advance,

the bellhousing was the engine color and the transmission was like a cast steel color.

I prefer the tranny to be painted black as it retards rust .

If you're painting the drivetrain in situ , go to the .99 CENTS store and buy several boxes of aluminum foil and use that to perfectly mask off the body and other stuff you don't want painted , you'll be amazed at how well this works .
