My dad was able to locate a few numbers on the cylinder head of my 3100. The engine is reportedly a '59 235. I couldn't seem to locate this cylinder head number tho...

B26918(or 3). Underneath that was 247 then under that was 570. Anyone have any ideas on those numbers? The spark plugs that came out were AC 45 Commercials...

    Thanks in advance.

Can you recheck the head number. It should start with a 383 or 370 and is prolly 7 digits. Something like 3835913 or 3836848.

I'll have him recheck it. I'm not physically near the truck, otherwise I'd probably already have the engine out and be inspecting it. ;)

    Cyl. Head Casting Numbers

Look on the left upper forward part of the head , it'll be visable with the rocker box in place .

848 or 050 are the best two but there's a bunch of them , I forget mine but it's some variant from 1957 IIRC , ends with 957 or some such nonsense .

As long as it's not cracked , you're good to go with it , have bronze valve guides installed and hardened seats etc. , use one piece stainless steel valves
the inlet valves & seats are good from GM .
