'55.2/'56 GMC 3/4 ton trucks used a rear end listed as "GM H050" in the GMC Maintenance Manual.

Did Chevy use the same rear end on 3/4 ton models?

Did GMC and/or Chevy use the same rear end on earlier models?

    When was it first introduced?

Hey Bill, you know how much i know about jimmys. All i can say is that the 3/4 ton chevys had spiral hypoid type gears and that the gear ratio on the 3/4 ton trucks was 4.57 to 1.

    hey bill.. and co.
i was just perusing this type thread on my TF truck and i hear the smaller trucks used whats typed a HO52 up through 8? and the 3/4-up size trucks used whats called a HO72 and all the pumpkins interchange int eh same axle group. IE; 52-52, 50-50(prob 52 also-GMC was its own little beast) 72-72

however-one thing to note on GMC it was the superior truck. serisouly. the axles used on half ton (interior axle) will NOT fit chevy. the axle shaft and splines are LARGER than chevy. so its possible that HO52 will not swap with HO50.
on a second note-im looking for a HO 73 center section with 4:11-4:56 gears. i have 5:13 and want to down-size to 4:56 or 4:11 for my camper.
