hi i have a 1987 silverado.i replace the alt and the batt.and check all connection.and i still dont get the system to charge.you know when i disconnect the postive cable from the batt.the truck dies out can any one please help with this .thank you vary much.
Did you check the alternator harness...one wire will go to the gauge and one will be a keyed source...you have to give the alternator power for it to make power... and the post will go to the positive on the batt.....check your key source on the harness..also check fuses.. also check belt tension... ummmm... if still no go than make sure you didn't get a dud alternator...
