Side spare bolt pattern...

    Hi All,

    I am looking for the bolt pattern to mount (in stock location) a side mounted spare on a 47-53 Chevy 1/2 ton. I have the bracket and found a decent 'spare notched' fender but would like to forego the hit or miss of centering the spare in its appropriate location.

    Does anyone on this forum have a stock 1/2 ton truck with the side mounted spare option that they could measure the bolt pattern on the box for me?

    hmmm

    i have a 3/4 ton. if it helps, i can measure the crap out of it. dunno if they are the same location as 1/2 ton or not. nate??

    The spare sits a bit higher on a shortbed,simply by virtue of the bed being shorter,less space between the cab and fender. Sorry I don't have any measurements since I threw this stuff away and mounted a non-spare fender on my 53,but maybe I can still measure the holes tomorrow.

    I would truly appreciate measurments Federale...

    Thank you also to Sloromon but a 3/4 ton is not the same.

    Federale, like I said, I would truly appreciate dimensions... from the front panel for the horizontal measurements and from the bed boards for the vertical.

    Down On The Farm...

    We did it thusly :

    Bolt the inflated spare with correct size tire to the support and set it up on the running board with a 2 X 4 underneath it , slide back and forth untill you've got about 1/4" clearance between the tire and the fenderwell , the driver's door should clear the tire by 1/4" ~ 1/2" .

    use spray paint in the mounting holes to mark the bed , remove the spare & support , centerpunch & drill the holes , paint the bare metal on the holes so they don't rust , seriously consider Fish Plating the inside of the bed so vibration won't cause it to crack in a year or two , bolt it all up using carrige bolts with the smooth rounded head inside the bed and yer all done
    ~ Robert's your fathers brother so to speak .

    If it's a true work/farm truck , you can fabricate a short 'Y' support and weld it to the running board to give the tire extra support...

    Look at a LOT of other trucks before you drill any holes ! .
