i have a 1949 chevy 3100 with a 92 truck rear end under it --would like to change to one with orig. measurements--could anyone tell if there is a car rear end that has the same hub to hub measurements as a 49

You can find this information in depth on the Stovebolt.com forum, search the rear end swaps and T-5 swaps (which require a rear end swap for torque tubes).

I'd also like to know if there is a direct replacement for the original 49. Maybe someone has done this swap and can enlighten us with exactly what worked for them. I looked at the site recommended and the stovebolt forum and there is so many different combinations that it gets confusing. I'd just like to know what some one replaced theirs with and how do you use the original transmission after you remove the torque tube assembly.:(
