I have a 50 gmc and i was going to paint my grill untill I save up money to buy a brand new one. Has any one ever painted a grill. Did you sand blast it first and then prime it or did you use 80 grit sand paper on a da sander. Or do something else.
paint some of the other guys are better experts than i am, but i just thought i'd pass along... on the newsstands now, there's a special "hot rod" magazine dedicated to paint and body work. very much worth the four bucks or whatever. check it out. jon
If its a chrome grille, believe it or not,easy-off oven cleaner will dull the chrome enough to make paint stick to it. Wash off well, then hand sand prime and paint just like any other body part.
Jason, Depends on the original condition you are starting with ? Would be best to remove all older material then build up from that point. I would assume you are not chrome just the plain old paint ? Blasting would get all areas the best but you need a good clean up of the material surface afterwards soap & water works the best. Then some primer coats with sanding in between to build up a good base for your color coat. Steve Owens
