I am installing a 700r4 trans and would like info on hooking the lock-up wires. I have heard of a couple options but would like to know what anyone in here had done.

    Thanks, steve in boise

Steve, I looked into this myself and got a little confused with all the options out there. I settled on relay style kit from Bowtie Overdrives that was a very reasonable $70.00 plus $8.00 for the tow option switch. The kit was complete with good instructions.
You'll also want to make sure you get the tv cable hooked up properly.

Did you buy a shifter with the relay or just a relat accessory? I heard someone makes a shifter with the overdrive switch on the shifter lever.

    Thanks, Steve

    Steve,
Check out this link at Bowtie's site. At this point I've only done the internal wiring, the truck's still disassembled. The torque lock works automatically in fourth, no switches to manually throw. It's also hooked to your brake lite switch to unlock the torque converter in 4th under braking. If you get the tow option kit there is a dash mount switch you can throw when towing that locks the torque converter in 2nd and 3rd too.

A guy just sent me this : I have a 700r4 with no computer. OVerdrive is just 4th gear, nothing required to make it kick in. There are 4 pins on the tranny, two can be shorted together, usign a toggle switch, to lock the tranny in over drive (4th gear) but you have to manualy have to release the short. I have seen hardware that goes in line with the speedo cable and hooks to those two terminals and autamatically locks/unlocks the OD. Try Ron Francis Wiring.
