Just found this site and I think It's going to help.
I just scored a 65 LB C10 in damn good condition with a 283 or 327 not too sure. Is there a way to tell?
The 3 speed was shot so I repalced it with a T350. It sat for a while so I'm working out some engine bugs. I saw on one of the posts that there is a fuel fiter on the pick up tube on the sending unit, I'm going to clean it this weekend and see if that takes care of the slight engine surge.
Well anyway, I'm an old school hotrodder/muscle car guy that has been away from the car seen for a while. I'm also working on a 55 1st and will be getting back to my 68 Chevelle in the next year or so.

Welcome! Get the #,s off the back of the block, and look them up at Mortech.com. That should help you out.

Dumb question... where on the back of the block, can I see the # with the engine in the truck?

Look also on in front of the head on the passenger side. There is a flat surface there. Run those numbers also. It should give you a more definitive answer.

The factory 327 cid V8 was not available in the C10 and C20 trucks until 1966. If you have a 1965 C10 with the original engine, you have a 283 cid V8. Otherwise, you will have to run the block ID number to determine the exact specifications of your power plant. Good luck with your project and welcome to the forum.

Take your time reading the numbers. 3,6, and 8 tend to look alike when they are caked with crap.

I went to that site and did not see where I could enter the numbers. I did find some numbers on the drives side just below the head, towords the front.
64290 does that look like enough numbers?
