    Ok guys, whats your opinion on this one, bid for a 235 on e-bay and won it, had to go 120 miles round trip to pick it up tonite, was advertised as partially stripped, sump was off and crank out, so threw it in the back of my van and when I got home I tore it down totally, this is what I find;

    Re-bored 60thou with brand new pistons and rings, not a mark on them,
    New cam and hyd lifters and cam bearings,
    new cam gears, chain, oil pump, block and head have been hot tanked and rods look like they are either new or shot peened, new valves and springs in head with new rocker shafts and although they dont look new the rockers are absolutely wear free, all new bearings through out,

    Problem, one end bearing is damaged, rod ok but end cap discoloured, crank looks ok no marks and is on standard bearings, one other rod has a stiff little end, but only slightly, this engine looks as though it only ran for a few minuts, still spotless inside the head chambers.

    Have I been ripped off because I paid $8.00 for it. Whats your honest opinion, do I just swallow the 8 bucks and junk it or is it worth investing my hard earned in this engine?

    Ripped

    You have most assuradly been RIPPED OFF, BUT becasue i feel your agony... you send all of the parts. the cam gears, chain, oil pump, block and head rods, new valves and springs, new rocker shafts and, all new bearings and I'll break down and pay for the shipping and kick in $10.00 to boot.

    Hope this eases your pain, it's the least I could do for a friend.

    TB'sD :D

    I need a clarification on this. :confused: Did you pay 8 dolars U.S. or 8 pounds U.K.? I'd try to salvage it if you spent the 8 pounds! Otherwise, i'll be glad to give you 8 dollars U.S. if you'll pay the shipping to get it to me so I can junk it for you! ;) You Brits are so sly! How did you ever lose us?:rolleyes:

    sometimes

    Well I think sometimes the big fella upstairs looks down on you and thinks, lets give this guy a break! and no, I have definately not stopped grinning yet:D the missus came out to the garage as I had finished tearing it down with a cup of tea and I was whistling away inspecting parts, "well somethings cheered you up" (had some bad news about my old man tues) "do you want this tea or a couple of cold ones from the fridge?" guess which one I went for;) I still can't believe someone invested so much on an engine then sold it for junk (?4.99 sterling) because of one bearing! but hey, if any of you guys will take it off my hands I would be grateful, just want my money back:rolleyes:

    As if!!!!!

    Klein is an unincorporated area about 7 miles west and 25 miles north of downtown Houston.
