I'm a newbie to this stuff, so can anybody inform me if the cabs on the 55-59 are all the same. As in interchangeable or not. i have a 58 big back window donor cab for my 55 small window project. Thanks
Changing Cabs 55-59 Hey Lowchevyman, I had a 1959 small window and swithced out for the BIG back window 55 cab. The only two things I can think of that are different in the cabs, were the wiper motor mounts, and wiper arms, after market electrical wiper motor need the 55, 56 arms, or linkage. the second are the hinges, I am still adjusting mine. Other than that all are the same. good luck.
Hey steve, thanks for the info. I mostly wondered if the cabs would interchange on the frame, and with the 55 fenders and that sort of stuff. But it sounds as though they are the same. Any ideas on books that i could find to help with this sort of info. I tried looking for the "how to build a tri-five chevy" but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks Brad.
hey low chevy, yea, the cabs will fit on the different frames. I did not like the try-five book resold it on the internet. For me good reading and info was Illustrated Buyer's Guide Chevrolet Pickup Trucks, by Tom Brownell, then Chevrolet pickups 1946-1972 by John Gunnell, got to have the Factory Assembly Manual and last How to restore your Chevrolet Pickup by Tom Brownell, all great information on try fives trucka. I am not a big speed guy buy like my 250 6 cylinder with a 200r4 (overdrive). 1959 bigwindow. later
Hey, One clearification, I ment the hood hinges are different between 57 and 58's , the door hinges are the same.
