I'm pretty sure it was 47 and earlier that had the tank under the bed.

Hence my questions about "welding on a tank". Thanks for all those great posts! I love my tunes and would LOVE to use that space behind the seat for speakers and things like a reserve fill for the under-the-cab PBB. (Not to mention how moving the tank would help in the install of 3 sets of seat belts.);) You can buy all kinds of tanks like this, I just like the idea of reusing things if I can. My van's 350 has been drinking out of that same tank since the day it was born and I'd kinda' hate to take it's bottle away.

I agree that the tank should be under the vehicle not nestled up close behind you while you're driving. But what do I know I'm just using the extra space back there for a speaker box. :D

I'm using the original tank from my 88 S-10 under mine. It might work. It's long and skinny and should be out of the way of the drive line. Also I know you can buy the alluminum box style that sits at the very back right under the bed.

Where's the neck of your tank going to come through, Kevin? That's the thing about my van's tank. I know it'll fit 'twix the rails with some support help, but what the heck do you do with that neck? It's like that song- "Bend it, shape it, anyway yah want it..."

I'm gonna try and get it to come out in the piece between the running boards and the bed. If that doesn't work then I'm gonna put a fuel door on the side of the bed and have it ran through the floor of the bed and accessable from the side of the bed. Make sure when you are routing your hose that you don't put it in to much of a bind or it will make filling up the tank a night mare. The fuel will back up in the neck and click off the pump every 10 seconds.

I don't think my hose has ever been in a bind. Of course I make sure to go nice and slow when I'm routing it. :)

    and it's outa here!

    Hose routing

First of all, I agree with Zig.

Second, my 47 has the tank under the bed. The tank filler tube come out the right side of the truck between the bed and the cab and has a small bracket on the front of the front stantion that holds it in place and keeps it from hitting the cab. The botton front of the bed side has a slight cut out to give it enough room. The rubber hose is only about 4 inches long (shut up Zig) and lays flat so there is no bind. If you get to the point that you need the filler tube, I have an extra. Let me know and I will send you the dimensions. If you want it you can have it for whatever it costs to send it to ya.

Gater- all I gotta say is ":D "
Ohhhhhhhh Kevinnnn.... It's okay, I just wanted to ..."bring something up"... :D
You had mentioned about taking your neck through the piece between the boards and the bed...
...(let me just say how HARD it is to stay on this very important topic!)...
Anyway- there was something I wasn't sure about, but Kyle's great photos confirmed. The top of that piece is just about even with the top of the frame. That was a great idea, but unless it went under the frame and then up- kinda like a p-trap on a sink, we'll have to take it elsewhere. See? I did it!:D

I guess it's up through the floor of the bed for me then. Thanks for chiming in. See you give advice on here. I haven't had running boards and a bed on mine for so long I just forgot how it is all ran. I guess that's the problem with taking them apart and leaving them apart for a while.

Leaving them apart is not the problem. How many ohs---- you throw down when you put it back together! Okay Kevin, if you're going through the floor with your S10 tank, how are you going to do that? Cut the neck, cut the cap end off, put that in a box with a cover, (like what CP sells for this type of app.) and connect the two with a short chunck of rubber hose?

I knew when I started this project with the tank I was gonna have to use a different filler neck than what's on it, so what the plan is as of now is to get filler neck type of hose and run it up through the bottom of the bed and make it curve to the side of the bed where there will be a fuel door in the side of the bed. (when I say curve to the side of the bed I don't mean a 90 degree bend I'm talking about 45 degrees at most. NOBODY wants their hose kinked!!!!:D ) Now where my truck is going to be different than alot of you guys is I have got to raise the floor about 4-5 inches to allow for my air suspension. So this will give me alot more room under the bed to deal with this filler neck. I am really hoping to not have to go into the bed at all with the hose, but if I do then the above described is how I will do it. Hoping to just go strait to the side of the bed to the fuel door.

The main reason for not doing the hole box in the bottom of the bed thing is because I don't want to drag a nasty fuel soaked hose over top of my brand new $5k paint job everytime I need gas. I see so many street rods done this way and if you pay close enough attention you will see all of the little anoying scratches from that rubber hose being laid across the bed rails.

I have a hard time explaining things some times so I hope this is clear to you guys, if not I'll try it again. I'm more of a do-er than a teller.

Well said- I gotcha! I'm sure when you add up the cost of all my rattle cans and my Mayco clearcoat finish, I'll be bumpin' the 300.00 finish cost, so the hose deal isn't that big of a deal- but keeping it outside the bed is an interesting puzzle. If I drag my feet long enough you'll have yours done, you can post pictures, and I can COPY!!!

The way my progress on my truck is going I think I'll be the last to finish. But I'd love to come out to Kansas and figure yours out though. Maybe one of these days I'll get to go home and work on mine again. I sure am missing it.

You can see I'm spending quality time with my family...;) Come on out Kevin! (Bring your drums. I got an electric guitar- we can p-off the neighbors!:D If you're on the western edge of Tenn., it should only take @7 hours(?) to get here! If I still lived in Princeton Kentucky, it wouldn't take as long! ...then again I wouldn't have my wonderful wife or incredible daughter! And oh yahhhh, way to go Titans! Glad someone knows how to play football!
