hey eveyone! i was thinking about lowering my truck, about a 3-5 drop. but dont wanna convert to disk brakes. do they make drop spindles for drum? if not id like to go the drop coil in the front and back route then. whats all the required parts needed do so, for the front and the back. and where is a good place to buy all this stuff? thanks all!
You can get drop springs without converting to disk brakes. But I would NOT go 3 inches, even if you could find them, for the front. TWO inches would be the absolute MAX. For the rear, 4 inch will be the most cost effective because a adjustable track bar is all that is needed. If you go lower you will need to invest in a shock relocation kit and a SUPER adjustable track bar. ( more $$$) Don't forget to factor in drop shocks in the budget. You will need those no matter how low you go. Val
hey thanks! is there any good places to get a compleate kit? does anyone have any good pictures of a 2-4 drop? my friend has a 99 gmc with a 2-4 drop but that isnt a very good reference.
I Did A 4 In The Front And 6 In The Rear Drop And Was Able To Get The Complete Kit From Early Classics For $1,400, I Think That Included Shipping. It Came With Everthing, Drop Spindles, Brakes, Brake Lines, Shorter Springs, Shocks And Shock Relocators, Adjustable Pan Hard Bar And All Hardware Included. I Was Blown Away When I Got The Kit And It Even Came With All The Prebent Brake Lines, Duel Reservoir Master Cylinder And Proportioning Valve. I Wasnt Expecting That. Anyway It Came With Everthing You Need Besides The Bigger Sway Bar For The Front. I Must Ask, If Your Going To Do All This Work, Why Wouldnt You Want To Go With Disc Up Front? Your Pulling Everthing Off Already, Might As Well Put The Discs On Instead Of The Old Single Brake Line Drums, Just Think What Can Happen When The Single Brake Line Fails. When I Started Drag Racing 15 Years Ago, A Wise Man Once Said, "stopping Is More Important Then Going" If You Cant Stop, Theres No Point In Going Anywhere Unless Your Ready To Meet Your Maker.
well it would be nice to convert to disk, but i got the truck with a totaly rebuilt and half brand new braking system. all the drums are new, the lines are new, everything brake related was new or rebuilt. sit seens to be stoping good, for now. i just wanted to just give it alittle drop and concentrate on bodywork and getting the engine running.
