Hi, Guys... Sorry I've been away for a while. Still working on my 1 1/2 Ton '49 Chevy. Time suddenly got very tight for a while. Haven't had much time to work on the truck. Showed my street rod this summer a bit and won two trophies. It will be seen on Power Block TV this spring as the start of a new version of Courtney's Picks that I am helping the production company start using video instead of just snapshots. I did get the cab corners installed before we got into the rainy season, but couldn't get the bondo done enough to prime. Looks like more work when I get a dry spell to straighten it out. It's too cold to work on it outside until about March. I finally figured out my engine problem...I think. It looks like the carb is screwed up and running too rich. Another lousey rebuild from a national chain. It will start and run fine for a few times then start progressively fouling plugs until it won't run hardly at all. If I clean the plugs it runs fine for a few times and starts fouling again. I can never seem to lean it out enough with carb adjust. It just keeps running better and better until I bottom out the screw. If I adjust the timing to lean it out then it won't start when it is cold at all. Pops back like it is way out of time. Since the head has already been checked at a local shop (even had it Magnafluxed), new head gasket, torqued and retorqued, valves adjusted and checked numerous times, replaced carb, new distributor, points, plugs, wires, fuel pump, lines, pressure regulator, manifold gaskets, vacuum lines, you name it, it seems to all come back to the carb. It runs fine right after I clean the plugs but they foul very quickly. Any other ideas? Hi, Nate... its been a while....
