found it on ebay, guy is local so that made it easy to check it out. it is a 350 LT1 out of a 1995 impala SS. The heads have been taken off, cleaned up, checked to make sure theyre flat, valve job, hot tanked, ETC. Engine has 61,000 miles on it. The guy got it from a junk yard and took the heads off due to surface rust and had everything rebuilt. Was putting it in an RX-7, but found a good deal on an LS1. Good for me though. Got it for 700, needs an alternator only and it is ready to go. Fuel injected for 700 feels good, i had a budget of 2000, so not too bad. here are pics. Has 260HP 330 TQ stock, but loves mods.

    I think you done good!

Most bare bones 350 crate motors run a helluva lot more than that! Just looking at a few of my catalogs, the cheapest I saw was 2500, up to 9000. Good find, hopes it works out for you.

Heck of a deal Kyle. Now all you have to do is get a harness and ECM and you'll be in there. Worked on several impala's with this motor. They give no problems and feel pretty powerfull. Don't forget to get the Data Link Connector (DLC) from the car to so you will be able to look at what's going on with your engine for easier diagnosis if things go wrong.

I think you need to upgrade to the 21st century old man!!!!:D (just funnin) Cam sensors, crank sensors, knock sensors, Mass air flow sensors, and the list goes on and on is the basics to me. One of these days I'll get you over to the dark side and you'll see how easy it can be.:p

Kick an old man while he's down!

Hey Kevin and Kyle. OK, i'll admit that i'm a dinosaur! But I promise you one thing! I won't go down without a fight. One of my favorite memories in life was coming home for a weekend while i was in college and stopping at K-Mart, Wal-Mart, or any of the FLAPS and bringing home a tune-up kit for my '72 Nova or '66 F**D ecoline van and getting out the tach, dwell meter, a couple of open-end wrenches (graduated in fractions of inches) and making those cars run like a bat outta hell, and never having to plug a laptop into a port. Oh goodie, it's time for my meds and a nice long nap. You guys rock! Keep the spirit alive. And I really mean that!

    Here We Go...

I don't know- it all sounds great... sensors and all- As old as I am, I hope they have one for when the driver nodds off. But really. What does a mass of wires do for you? If the engine overheats, I think I can figure that out. If it's running like crap, I got a good idee on what to check. Oil pressure low? Let me see, anything pop to mind? Now, it may not fire right up and allow me to throw it right into drive and zoom down the road. Heck, it may take a couple o tries just to get it running. I really don't mind setting and listening to its purr. I promise to wake up if it does. But all those wires for 3 more MPG?
My poor Blazer still sets in the dealer's garage with "an electrical short problem". The poor guy had to take out my dash, undo all the connections in the main and put them back one by one to see which ones blowing the fuse. (All pink wires- there's a good thought!) Anyway, he finally found the wire. The computer was of no help in finding what went wrong. Melted wire coating. He fixed that, put it all back together, now it falls flat on it's face when you say go. Lectronics? I am now less a fan. More may not be better- least for my feeble brain.

AMEN!!! I guess some of us are showing our age. I seem to remember a day when it only took 4 or 5 wreches, a tach, a dwell meter and some time to completly overhaul an engine and get it running. What ever happened to the good old days of manuel typewriters (guess we would'nt be posting threads) carberators, bias ply tires and grease fitting at every moving point on a car?

    Man we are old

That's part of the reason i'm in love with the boops ride, I CAN WORK ON IT without calling on MR. GOODWRENCH and his 80$ per hour charge!

Great buy though on the engine. Hope it runs and fits well. Best to ya.

Think I'll stick with my carter carb even though I do love those LT engins. Used to have a patrol car with a LT1, man she would fly, ya just couldn't hold the boat on the road unless you were going straight :D

You did get a great buy from what I can see.

thats good and all, BUT, i said BUT, when i put new trickflow heads, massive cam, pushrods, roller rockers, HIGH COMPRESSION pistons, i would like to see that my AFR is where it needs to be. I dont want to build a 4000 dollar grenade. The real reason for the fuel injection though is for my future wife to drive the car. She does not understand anything but turn the key.

Really guys this whole fuel injection thing isn't as scary as some might think. Actually its real simple. The reason for all the sensors on it isn't for diagnosis but for the engine to be getting the right amount of fuel for what air is going in at the right time, that's all. I know that I bash on you guys alot (all in fun though) about your carbed engines, but believe it or not mine is gonna be a carby. I wanted to do something a little different that I'm not used to with my truck. I just couldn't bring myself to build this truck and not be able to hear that lope of the engine at idle. That to me is as much of a head turner as the way the vehicle looks. I know I said in the beginning I was gonna go fuel injected, but I changed my mind and already have an engine picked out and just waiting on the money to get it. Here's the link:

I figured for this price I don't think I could even build one for that.

Man , you kids make me feel OLD ! :D

Here I think fuel injection means Bosch D-Jetronic.... (discontinued in 1976)

I have it on one of my old Mercedes , it's crude compared to to-day's EFI's but the car sure honks right along and power slides sideways through intersections really well too

perfect starting cold or hot , anytime is nice :p

I'd like to put AFC (K-Jet) on my 235 , I bet it'd really give some better power and fuel economy should increase too . Jeep has a nifty up grade kit to convert old AMC InLine 6 bangers to F.I. and it's cheap .

    EFI & InLine 6 - Bangers

    Sure I can :D

Of course I drive an EFI equipped car ! you know I like old German junk and most of it is EFI after the 1968 model year...

I read the Jeep article over on The StoveBolt Page several years ago before I gave up on all the kiddies and sillyness there .

Like I said : if I could figger out how to squeeze a Bosch D-Jetronic EFI system onto my 235 , I'd do it in a heartbeat ! faster , more power , less fuel burned , longer engine life , there's NO downside .
