    Way to go!

Looking good! Help me out here. I know it's got to be no newer than a '50 model because there are no vent windows, but GMC's have me stumped. What year is it? As for the neighbors, who cares! They gotta b*tch about something, right?:D

It was my brother in laws truck so he hasnt given me the title yet but I'm thinking It's a 50 model. Been resisting it for about two years, but finally caved in and brought it home. Chris

WOW! If your neighbors are worth their salt, they will bring over a cake or pie or some special gift and thank you for spicing up the neighborhood. That's a fine looking truck. Makes me want-ta celebrate "ANOTHER ONE SAVED". :D

It looks like it's in relatively good shape, probably cause it spent it's life in arizona, hot and dry.

Open er up, show us what she's got, make us all jealous. Tell us what ya gona do and how she'll some day zip down the road with new zeal and vigor...

And, she's gotta have a name if she's a new addition. When and if your neighbors come over to welcome her (or complain) you can call her by name. If they are upset, you can say something like "oh, you mean Suzie, she's like a child to me", (insert tears) and say "how could you say something so cruel, she means the world to me and my wife, you ought to be ashamed"

And if it's to thank you, you go the other way and tell them they can come over and play with Suzie any time they want too.

They might think your crazy, but at the least they will stay away and not coon finger your new ride. :D

She's purdy, can't wait to see what's in store.

    Good neighbors

Fortunitly I have good neighbors, but I always wonder if they will notice one more. Probably not going to see any kind of cake or pie. I'd be happy not to see any lude gestures or werd looks!! It is a pretty neat old truck, Think I'm going to get all the mechanicals up to par and restore the inside of the cab and engine compartment, leave the rest the patina it is. Engine has a broke crank:( Chris

    long motor

Yep, Been told its a 248. Might pull it apart and see if its salvagable. Brother in law said that he was driving down the road and all of a sudden the wheels locked up. Been sitting ever since....20 years!

    Welcome Chris!

Happy to have another GMC guy on board! I got one of those things too. Don't take the caps off- ugly hub warning!!! Mine looked alot like yours does. It's a labor of love to be sure. Most people would look at a truck like that and say "Why?". They're a friggin' work of art is why- and it looks like your rig is mighty straight. You have a lot to work with.
Your engine is different than mine- mine's a mighty 228. (See "Photos" under Zig) Or... see Nate drooling... I still don't know- keep the 228 and mate it to a T5, or dump the whole thing and put in a V8/auto/stick...? The bottom line for me is -daily driver, lasts forever- Whatever is the best combo for this is where I'll end up. All these other people have this all figured out. I'm like that Kansas tornado swirling 'round and 'round. Anyway- welcome!

    Speaking of Long Motors.......

I was @ Pomona to-day and there , all covered in a 1/4" layer of protective grease , was a 302 ! yes indeedy , tranny and all acessories still on it !

I ran away before I could do something stupid like ask ' how much ? ' and find out it was only $50.00 and me in my Mercedes Coupe... :(

I think I'll need to see a shrink after this....

Welcome to the site Chris. Sorry I'm a little late on this one. I've been out of town for the weekend so you'll have to forgive me. Like everyone else has said, we have a great time here talking about anything. Lots of good knowledge here from street rods to originals. Good looking truck you got there.
