good morning. Can I get some help again with the rear brakes on my 1950 chevy 1/2 ton. It looks like the part that moves the shoes for the emergency brake is missing. These are huck brakes.
I don't know what it looks like. according to my shop manuel I need a toggle lever and an eccentric bolt to operate the brake shoes inside the wheel hub. When I looked In the archives, people with the same problem were told they need parking brake shoe spreader bars. Are these two items the same thing? If so what do they look like? I'm going to a swap meet in Fort Worth,Texas this weekend to see if I can find these parts. I've looked for pictures,But I can't find any. I need to know what Im looking for. I seen in chevy duty that they have spreader bars, but no pictures. Is this what I need? How would they hook up? One last question,on the rear brakes do they have hold down springs on the brake shoes like the front does? Again according to my repair manuel they do, but when I tore them apart they were not there. Any help again would be greatly, greatly, appreciated. Thanks

    RE: huck emergency brakes

Go to Chevy Obsolete or Chevrolet Obsolete , I'm not sure of the name , it's a parts house in the South , they use factory photos for parts diagrams and they're very good , I had them but Netscape wiped me out recently so no more .

There's also the old car manual project , they have many good pictires from shop and parts manuals posted .

I'm a 'puter dummy and so cannot help you find the sites , sorry .

    Good luck .

Did you ever get your problem solved? I'm facing a simlar issue, but I do have one rear side still intack, and the other just pieces I collected off the PO floor. I will post some photos once it warms up enough to work on the truck. Larry
