i 've got a chevy sb with a alum intake how do you keep it looking nice? i am dressing up the engine and was considering sand blasting or glass beading the intake to clean it, polishing just seams like to much work.If i get it blasted how do i keep it looking clean, without oxididing

    excellent question!

And i'll take it one step further. What about old original cast iron intake/exhaust headers? Can they be sandblasted or does it compromise them? Once they are cleaned, can't you just just paint them with a high temp paint, color of your choice? Input, guys?

On the aluminum intake be sure not to touch after blasting and spray with two coats of clear. High heat paint will hold up better on each side where the heat rizers for the carb are. The first coat will be absorbed by the grainy texture from blasting so the second looks better. Either way it makes keeping clean much easier.
Blasting cast iron gives the ideal paint surface and the paint will hold like stink on sardines. There are some stainless pigment paints for exhaust manifolds that holds up well. The pigments is not shiny but a grey color and seems to resist the heat better than some of the other high heat paint.
