    It's in!!

Used the engine hoist through the hole in the floor and brought the trans into place easy as pie by myself and safely. Should have thought of that BEFORE I smashed my finger. Finger still hurts but I put the trans in just as soon as it stopped bleeding last week. Attached picture showing trans in place with attached chains and with Hi-tech cardboard transmission dust cover.:D If any of you want one of these hi-tech covers made from space-age corrugated fiber material, just let me know. I can let you all have mine for a nominal fee.

Could anyone read what the white label said on that high tech dust cover? I think i could make out some kind of warning about a pinch-point and do not over tighten bolt if finger is under cover. Maybe it was just my imagination, running away with me...:D

It's stuff like this that makes this site the jewel that it is! Andy, was the crew on hand to watch this take place? Thumbs up!

Nope. The crew was not on hand. They were with their mom. I did it late last Wednesday night. Had to fly to Atlanta early Thursday, but just couldn't go with that tranny lying on the floor where it smashed my finger. Bothered me. Wasn't about to let that cold piece of iron get the best of me. Froze my finger off doing it, then had to get ready for the business trip late at night after cleaning up, but it was worth it. Drive train is in and big, heavy (did I mention the Muncie is MONSTROUSLY heavy?) and dangerous parts are out of harms way of the kids (and me). Nice feeling of satisfaction now that I can give my cousin back his engine hoist and stand and get it out of my very limited one-car garage shop space. Truck is now in hibernation mode as it is colder than a witches...well, you know what part of the witches anatomy I'm talking about now don'tcha'?:D

    Hey Brit,

Gladly will sell you one of my Hi-tech trans floor covers made from space-age corrugated fiber material along with the special white flexible tool you mentioned that is on the floor pan in the picture. Just check out my web site at www.reallyexpensivesmallpartsforADtrucks.com and you too can have the right tools and parts you need for a proper restoration of your very own AD truck. Of course with the import fees to the U.K. it will be a little pricier for you.

Hey Ken...Yes there is a warnning label on the space-age corrugated fiber Hi-tech trans cover. It reads: CAUTION: Restoration of AD trucks may be habit forming. Consult with your physician or local beer salesman before attempting. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery while restoring vehicle. Side effects may include smashed fingers, skinned knuckles, colorful language, draining of bank accounts and fun with your kids.:D

Humble pie tastes good. Peter Frampton still rocks. Saw a video of him playing on his tour from last year. His voice is strong and guitar playing is still great. Of course his amazing hair is all gone. Too bad. There was a time 30 years ago when he would walk into a room of young girls and all you would hear was the sound of panties hitting the floor.:D

Nice to see a rock icon still looking and playing well instead of ending up dead in the bottom of a bottle of booze or pills.

    I'm humble...I'm humble already!!!

No work on the truck this weekend. Too cold. My middle one woke up with croup. Too bad for him. I was supposed to drop him off for an overnight scout camping trip today. Better off. It is going to be in the single digits tonight here. Poor bugger would have frozen his parts off. Now I just have to take him to the doctor and get ready for Super Bowl party here tomorrow.

    GO COLTS!!!!

peter frampton lives in my home town of cincinnati. I drove his BMW last month, he brought it into the detail shop i was employed by to have it detailed. Smelled of very nasty "old man cologne"! My young nose is not used to the "MUSK FUNK". haha
