Truck is being treated to new paint (2-tone!) this winter, and I'd like to replace the wheels. As a family heirloom, the old '54 is wearing some horrendously ugly aftermarket rust/chrome steel wagon wheels that were slapped on in the 1970s some time. I like the way the truck rides with the wider (255/70-15) modern tires, but could live without these particular rims. Does anyone know if the 15" steel Rally wheels from an '80s Chevy/GMC truck will fit on a '54?

Hey Chris, The 15x8 rallies that came off the 4 wheel drives fit great. I have a set on my 59 fleetside now and plan on putting some original hub caps on them. Chris

My '57 GMC (with a left front hub from a '52 Chevy truck) is sporting a set of mid '70s 15 inch rally wheels from a 4x4 Chevy and 235/75 tires. Works good except that it is possible for the inside of the tire to rub on the drag link joint to the pitman arm when steering is turned all the way left. Fixed that by adjusting the stop on the left spindle. Your 255/70s would be worse.

I assume the 4WD Rally wheels are 6-lug wheels? The only ones I've found are five-lugs.

Bill--My truck is currently running the wide tires with no problems and as far as I know the suspension is stock. Perhaps my uncle modified the steering when he first put 'em on though.

Sometime in the '60s GMC and Chevy 1/2 ton trucks started using 5 lugs on 2WD trucks and 6 lugs on 4WD. Stayed that way for a long time, maybe still are.
