Trying to get started on rebuilding a 73 Chevy dont know where to start. Got a Chiltons book and have minor know how, but need some advise on where to start and suggestions. E-mail me at chevy-bigblock@hotmail.com Bubba
Take the body off the frame. This will give you easy acess to the drive train. If you want to lower it or redo brakes suspension ect. start here. After the frame is complete work on the cab and other body parts. Get it painted remove rust ect. Put cab on the frame. This is the point where you will want to get the motor and tranny put in. After the motor/tranny is in install front clip. Install wiring and truck bed.
I agree, If you want to do it right and you don't need it as a daily driver then frame-off restoration is the best, and gives the most accessability to all components. Check out LMCtruck.com and Classicparts.com sites too.
There are several books out there on the subject to help you along with your project. Do your research evaluate the trucks condtion decide what you truck needs and what you want it to be set a buget for your project And have at it! Steve
You forgot the part about "throw a lot of money at it" ! ....and come up with creative explanations for the wife when she reviews the bills next month!
