Thanks, but that shop manual does not show the clips or the seal or how any of those parts are assembled. I have a hard copy of the book that you sent the link for.

I wonder why our favorite parts supplier does not provide instructions with some of the parts that they sell.

Man, that would be above the call of duty. As you say, some one must know and you will not have to do that.

Remember the gasket between the headlamp bucket and the fender is important .

You acessory visor goes underneath part " C " .

Be _GENTLE_ with the trim ring ! they're butt welded right where the screw goes through and will brak if you overtighten them or try to pull it home with the screw...

Hello and thanks again for all of the info. I posted two new pictures of my truck to show how the head lamps turned out. I do have one last question, the flap on the rim seal is supposed to be the part that fits between the retainer ring and the rim, right?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Here is a PDF file of a drawing that is a section of the area I am trying to understand. This shows how I have installed mine.

I have I done the right thing?

    Ken,
Now that you have shown me the diagram, do you know where a feller could get a 2.721 Spring as shown? You can tell that I am getting down to the nit pickin stuff now.
    Thanks,
    Gater

Looks good to me ~ the retaining clips actually lay against the inside of the trim ring wheras in your pic they're leaning out away from it .

That PDF thing is cool ! I dunno how you guys do this stuff .

Thanks Nate, and to everyone else. The problem was that all the diagrams that everyone showed me did not have to the level of detail I needed. But I am forever grateful to help.

I am not sure of the clip that Tailgator is looking for, but I got all of my stuff here at Chev... I mean Classic Parts. (I may never get used to that) The one thing was no instructions. They do run a very good forum though.

The PDF was pretty easy. I started with an auto cad drawing and then created a PDF with soft ware you can buy. There is that money thing again. Most everyone's computer will open a PDF so that is what I used. I could have made a TIF file but the PDF is just as good.

Just think of the fellow who bought my truck brand new back in 1954. He would think we were talking in code, or were nuts.

Um , er . ah ~ SURE Andy !

I get it now ! (NOT)

(BTW : if your truck was bought new by a typical farmer he'd look and say " Dang it ! I knew I sold it too soon ! "

    :D
