Matthews 1966c-10 frame is comeing right along. Once was a 1966 c-10 longbed frame its now a shortbed frame. It really nice and straight.Look at photoes of frame you can see way I think my good friend (convertable 1966 c-10 chevy ) John is one of the best welder/metal worker Ive ever seen, this frame has allready been cut and shortened. .Firt photoes of frame are before cut, last one are after.Nice Job .
Lookin good 283man. I'm pretty jelous, not only are you working on this truck with your son but you can work during the winter. Thanks for taking the time to do this with your son, I'm sure he will remember it for ever (and hopefully pass it on) I only wish my dad would help me! I hope to get building my 350 this coming weekend, everything is ready to go, block is tanked & honed with new bearings, rings, oil pump, bump stick and lifters, heads are getting 3 angle valve job with new valve seals now it just needs put back together. I'm debating wether or not to port and polish the heads to the edelbrock performer intake... only time will tell. I'll be getting the 700R4 rebuilt next week and get the combo put into the 65 as soon as the snow melts and the truck can come out of storage. Best luck with the rest of your rebuild
Thank You Everyone for the Complants guys,we have been doing one thing at a time not rushing at it.Father&Son project that we both love to put our time into my good friend John (convertable 66 c-10) is showing us how to do this ever step of the way professionally done right. We will keep posting pitchers on project to share with everyone. Thanks again guys..
Leyland, Just My Two Cense, Port Match The Heads To Your Intake And Headers But Dont Polish. Research Has Show That Polishing Doesnt Actually Improve Flow, But A Casted Surface Actually Allows The Air To Flow Better. I Wished I Remembered The Sight With This Article. If I Find It Ill Send It To You.
Hey 283, Looking Good. I Had A Hard Time Seeing The Welds, Did You Guys Cut And Weld The Frame At A 45 Degree Angle Or A Straight Verticle Cut And Weld?
That truck looks solid 283, chassis looks great too, have you plated the join? Its cool to see the progress pictures, i dont seem to be able to get my project pictures downloaded. Keep at it, You and Matthew have a fantastic project. Steve.
It is cut at a Z type angle, about 16"was remove from frame, it well take time and money, sweet & tears but in the end my Son is worth all of it, both love doing this project together and my good friend John (66 c-10 convertable) is helping us out on this project,Im learning things that proves a man is never to old to learn.John is a key part in our project, we will keep everone posted on our progess. THANKS AGAIN for kind replys
Also to it will have a frame plate like in behind frame rails made from excess 16" of frame took out of frame for extra support on shortbed frame bolted thur the rails.
Im Glad You Said Your Going To Plate It. Id Just Weld Instead Of Bolt It. I Was Worried You Werent Going To Plate And That Will Cause It To Be Very Weak And The Frame Would Flex And Bend, And More Then Likely Break If You Didnt Plate It. Good Job. Ive been A Certified Welder For About 12 Years And Ive Kept Up My Certs Even Though I Dont Weld For A Career, I Build Lots Of Things Out My Shop For Other People for extra cash and Ive Seen Some Real Scary Stuff Happen When people dont setup and weld there projects correctly. Good Luck Boys, And Keep Up The Good Work!!
Know what you mean about not having a reforcements on the frame, even though these is a kind of new world to me welding/metal work the person who is showing me and matt the tricks of the trade is a professional worked at it for long time to when we first seen some of his work the 1966 c-10 convertable, that truck is work of art still under construction. John has a excellent talent with metal and fabercation work. Thanks 66 KUSTOM ,I also learn a lot here on the form from all my good friends here.
THOSE ARE THE BEST KIND OF FRIENDS TO HAVE 283. WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF WELDING AND METAL WORK. I FIND IT FASINATING MYSELF. WHEN YOU LEARN THE TRICKS, THERES NO STOPPING ON WHAT KINDA STUFF YOU CAN MAKE AND MODIFY. I FIND MYSELF MAKING CHRISTMAS PRESENTS ALOT. I MADE MY MOM A EIFLE TOWER FOR HER GARDEN LAST YEAR. THAT TOOK FOREVER.
