Hi there, my wife is just about to have a baby and i want to install seat belts into my 54 Chevy pick-up. Have any of you chap's done this to your truck? Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers, Cornishdave.

Welcome young man! (Or old fart) Congratulations! Is this your first child? (I would assume, since you don't already have belts and you three are about all that would fit into these spacious cabs.) In the photos section, you might notice on my truck that I only have one set, and it was just for that reason. My daughter always goes with me to my folk's house to watch the Chiefs play football, so I HAD to put that in. When I swap my cab over to my other frame, I'm going to install the shoulder belts on each end and the lap belt in the middle. That is another reason why "moving the tank" sounds very interesting to me! Anyway- WELCOME! Please post some pictures so we can see what you've got!
Yes , quite a few of us have and it's a wise idea . Important to anchor them to the floor , NOT the frame ! . only one belt per anchor bolt please Measure where you're going to drill the holes THRICE as it's easy to wind up too close to the frame so the nut won't go on the bolt.... Use large oversize washers -under- the floor to gusset the anchors for safety . If you decide to use shoulder belts (" Three Point ") you'll wind up ruining the paint so be careful , you'll need to weld the upper anchor , sit in the seat whilst you have someone else hgold the upper anchor point & mark it with a crayon , most folks put it too low and then hate driving the truck as it's painfully uncomfortable after 20 minutes or so.... Old Nissan Pickups have nice three point retractable belts but I prefer lap belts in my '49 . Never , EVER trust the doors in these old trucks to stay closed ! I know this will be difficult with a youngster in the cab . There's other posts on this in the archives or just scroll back a few pages .

Ha, Any suggestions on the place to purchase the Best Quality & Price on lap belts ? Seems looking around the quality & pricing are all over the map. Please don't come back with a discussion on those old style aircraft belts. That was a tough post from the past.
Lap belts I installed lap belts in my truck, I installed a separate anchor plate for each belt and for each side of the belts. I can't remember where I got them from, I think it was American Classic Parts, but I think Classic Parts is selling them too. Here is a photo of the detail on the drivers' side. Later today I can take pictures of the mounting anchors that I used, I will have to get under the truck and take them. The mounting anchors are under the cab not the frame rails. Cheerio! Antonio
Hi Cornishdave, i actually live pretty local to you and have lap belts in my 60 apache panel. Your welcome to have a gander at them for ideas. You may also want to check Halfords website as they sell shoulder type belts or check out the europa website.
You can get some vintage seat belts and have them re-webbed with matching color chealy , or jjust go to NAPA as I did on this rig .
