Sometimes you really don't know people until an unusual event occurs. I was proud of them when one of their cars won best of class and the judges choice award at the big Dallas Autorama car show a month or so ago but that trophy is just wood and tin. We did a 55 second series that was bought new by a retired farmer and when he, his son, and grandson came to pick it up on a utility trailer (because it didn't have insurance on it yet) the whole right side got scraped on the side rail. This truck was a big splurge for him and his heart winning doll of a wife (both in their 70's) and they were devastated. I said to leave it and we'd see what we could do. The guys said if I'd furnish the shop they would come in early and take care of it--gratis. A week of coming in at 6am instead of the usual 8:00 and one of them donating a perfect bumper off his own truck and it's ready to pick up again tomorrow, this time on the shops real car trailer. Better than any trophy.

It's always nice to find that there's still good people in this world....

I still stop to change tires when I see ladies with a flat , here in The Big City (hah) they're usually scared as I pull over & back up....

I'll stop and offer help if I see an oldie with the hood up or the driver sitting dejectedly as if no idea what to do but in general men don't need nor want my help........

I help women 'cause I'd not want my old lady stuck on the side of the road....

Many years ago when I was 14 or so I got the job of removing a wheel off a car , it'd been driven in on a flat and had gone -so- far , the tire was long gone and the rim had bent and wrapped around the brake drum , giving me a devil of a time getting it off...

Turns out the garage's owner had told the woman driver (his wife , daughter
, sis I don't recall) to never , ever stop and screw with a flat tire when in town, just limp it on home or to wherever she was going and then call ~ great advice in retrospect and I've told all my ladies over the years the same thing , several have destroyed tires and/or rims but tires and rims are cheap compared to finding a good old lady....
