    Well, Guys,
I finally got wheels on her so that I could take photos for the insurance company. I have uploaded several to the gallery but here are some. I think this link will go directly to the gallery https://talk.classicparts.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=5596&limit=&page=1&sortby=&sorttime=0&way=
What do you think? At least I overcame the odds. I think I read where 80% of these fail. I have had this one since '89 but I finally got it. And it is in time for my 51st B-day this Monday!

    Thanks, guys,
After I got through taking the photos I spent the last 4 hours taking care of honey dos for SWMBO. It is a beautiful day here in East Tenn.
Now I've got to find some local shows to go to. I know all the big ones but sometimes I will be out driving and see several rods and antiques on the road and know that there is one somewhere that I missed.
Thanks again for the kind words,
    Gater

    You Did It!!!

What a great way to end this day! I'm happy for you Gater! That is SO well done! I know I pushed for white into yellow flames back when, but I'm glad you didn't listen to me!;) Who does?!:p The wheels were a PERFECT choice, and it shows other 3/4 and above lovers that you CAN do something with those hubs! Great timing too! Right in time for your birthday! You can use that to blow your candles out as you drive past the cake for yet another "test drive"!:D By-the-by... That's a really cool play house you have there!
Get ready to wave back to all the old AD lovers!

Gater, Beautiful truck. I drive thru Union City,Tn On my way to the land between the lakes...I always see alot of old trucks going to the Goodyear plant for a show..You might need to call in advance to warn the other trucks so you don't hurt their feelings..Your more than welcome to drive to Kennett April 28th..Reg starts at 9 am...Show last from 10-2..Judging at 11am..just a small car show to honor a young student who died in a car wreck..

    Thanks, Nate,
It is a late model Chevy "Bright Red". I held a Swift's red swatch to it and realy couldn't see a difference. I use to be a color matcher so I am satisfied.

    Zig,
Thanks. Th eplayhouse its the 12 year old son's. Had I known what his interests were going to be, I would have built him a lab.

    Teacher,
Forgive me for asking but where is Kennet?

    Wow

What a beautiful piece of machinery!!!

I'm impressed with the fitting of all the parts as they show in the pics. Looks like everything fit well. Did you have any problems with after market parts fitting correctly?

Did you paint it assymbled or in pieces? I am pleased with the Boops ride but I can't seem to get the hood adjusted to suit me.

    Again... AWWWWWSUUUMMMMM

    Sloromon,
Nah, this one is a 1 ton. The bed is just shy of 9 feet. So, what you think is an optical illusion that makes the bed look too long in the photo is not. It really is that long. Thank you for the compliments. It makes me feel good knowing you guys like what I did with it.

    Boop's Dad,
I had a painter do the body work and paint. He attacked the cab first. I got him the vented cowl that went fromthe bottom all the way to the top and he had no problem. On the driver's side I got the short piece that didn't include the vent door and he whined that it took 5 hours to fix compared to the short time it would have taken if I had gotten the whole piece. He forgot that I ordered what he asked me to order. The bed sides and fenders were all painted seperately and then assembled. The hood was the hardest to fit. It still doesn't fit perfectly but I am not going to mess with it much. Man that is nerve racking when you have to hold that hood over that finshed cowl while putting in the hinge bolts. I could just see a slip and having to fix a bonch of scratches and dents. Anyway, it is all together now. I have never been a big detail person when it comes to detailing my car so I have to learn. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your encouragement along the way.
    Gater

Then Kennett would be at least an 8 hour drive in a modern car and more than that in my truck. I will have to pass for now. Who knows later on when I have more time on my hands. I live about 15 minutes from Virginia, about an hour and a half or so from Virginia Tech. I have heard that, as the crow flies, I am closer to Canada than to Memphis. I have looked at the map and it certainly looks possible.
    Thanks for the invite,
    Gater
