Well, I knew that the day would come... BUT SO SOON? With all the work done, finishing touches to minor details, apprasel completed to the insurance satisfaction, all the fluids checked, last minute instructions and all the fatherly advise and WARNINGS I watched as the Boop rolled off into the sunset this evening. Oh, I know she only drove 15 minutes away, but that's only the first step in a far away trail... Yeh, she did try to persuade Dad to go with her, and amoungst the fears and concern, all the unknowns and unscrupulous boys in the world, I said no, and off she went to gandma's house. Guess it had to happen sometime. Here are a few more pics of the completed ride, and the little princes herself a couple of weeks ago when it snowed. Hope you enjoy, THANKS again so much for the help and encouragement. Aint she beautiful!!! And the truck aint bad either TB'sD
Whoa, hold the presses! Hey, I don't see seatbelts in the pics!! What's up with that? You better get that girl strapped in! I've driven them windy-a$$ roads to your house. Get on it man! BTW, young lady, nice ride! Now, get daddy off of high center and get him to working on your mom's falcon
Seat Belts? Who needs seat belts? Now she want stay in one place long enough to need them Just kiddin, As you know, I have them. I just need to find a evening to remove the seat and install them. Thanks for the complements. The Falcon in probably coming into the shop/tent this week, ya know, if moma aint happy, aint nobody happy TB'sD
Hey Robin, you know how I like to rant... If you think I busted your chops on the wipers, just wait until I turn loose on seatbelts Git-r-done buddy! I don't want my girl driving that until I know she'll have a fightin' chance against them drunk rednecks that we seem to breed in E. Texas. (End of rant, but filled with love.)
Drunk red head necks Point well taken, and over the last two years I feel like the king of gettin er dun, just a little drug out Seat belt for my baby is a MUST. And Jon, it'l come... patience, TLC and consistancy always pays off. A question though, is it ever done? Now that it's "finished" I've found other things that I want to do. Now that it's together and running, I found an oil leak, transmission leak and the rear is growling. All these problems are left over from the kooook that chopped the truck up to start with. I thought I had all the leaks fixed, but couldn't be sure until it was run. Well, I didn't have em all, now I'm thinking about pulling the motor and trans. Had a friend give me a S-10 rear for free, it will go in next. Well, it's back to gettin er dun but it's all in fun and time with the Boop, just hope she has a little more patience. I'll let her drive it a few weeks, then pull er down for a fix. TB'sD
Sure it will! Never take that attitude! With a little blood, sweat and tears, anything is possible! Always think positive! You've got the best network around. I'm convinced that there is nothing that WE can't accomplish if we put our collective minds to it. Look at Boop's ride, look at Gater's ride, look at Lapace's ride. No need for negatism. If you get to a stumbling block, you've got a world of support! C'mon man, we know you can do it!
If a girl came into the town I live in with a truck like that and pretty like her I wouldnt believe it and would have to marry her haha
After recent events, this has restored my faith in humanity, there is some good in the world after all, great ride and a lovely (and very lucky) daughter, ________ NO2 REVIEW
Looking Good BUT You simply cannot allow anyone in the family to drive it again untill you've taken the 2hr.s to install saftey belts ~ think of the message you're sending about the importance of saftey belts if she's (or anyone) allowed to EVER drive it without them ~ I will not apologize for getting into your face about this ! You know these old trucks are DEATH TRAPS and the ' other guy ' might take away your precious Boopster...... I don't want to read a post about that , 'K . As far as oil leaks , nothing you can do ~ it's a AD truck and if it wants to leak just to remind you , it will
Belt Update The Boop didn't drive the the truck today, waiting on belts Now, about those oil leaks... it's got a v-ate, I replaced ALL seals, even front and rear of motor, new gaskets every where where I thought oil could leak from the engine. The problem is... after the previous owner did his damage he destroyed the timing chain cover. SO, to fix the problem, I thought to my self, self, get a new cover, so I did. AND THAT'S THE PROBLEM. I purchased and aftermarket chrome cover and the hole is not centered and will not allow the front seal to seat tight around the harmonic balancer, hence, the thing leaks. How much of a leak could it be you asked. Well let me tell you. In 300 miles I had to put in a quart. Now can you imagine what the bottom and back of the Boops new sparkly red truck will look like after a few hundred miles combined with these country back roads Got to fix the leak. And having said that, I'll also say thanks, Ken and Nate, sometimes we all need a stern reminder from a friend. TB'sD
Always remember, a pat on the back... is only two vertibrae away from a kick in the butt! It's a fine line! Safety should always be first and foremost, especially when loved ones are concerned!
sorry guys! didn't mean to sound negative! i am making progress! and it's driveable! that's more than a lot of guys can say. jon
That's excellent! Drive it and enjoy it! That's the greatest part about these trucks. Do several smaller projects here and there, but never lose sight of the fact that you're doing this because you love it. If you hit a snag, step back and think about it for a while.
