I am still working on my 51 gmc and in the process of getting it re-tittled, but to do this I need the serial number and engine number. my problem is I can not find the engine number. if anyone knows where it is please let me know. I'm probably looking right over it.
    Thanks in advance, ATV :)

Actually you should use the VIN number that's stamped into the VIN plate on the driver's door post .

The engine serial number is a _stamped_ number on a raised flat on the right side of the engine , near the distributor .

You really should not use the engine number as a VIN that was done often when your truck was new but it's not done anymore , if your block ever cracks or whatnot , you'll have to do a title correction , this can be very difficult when there's no old timers @ the DMV office....
