I link to this old truck just to share with you all what this guy has done with the door latches. I didn't take the time to capture the photos and show them here so just take a close look at the pics. I am sure you guys that are good at fabricating can incorporate this if you want to. It looks like these would be safer and, if done correctly, easier to adjust.

Gater you are the MAN!!!! You just saved me some money that's for sure. I have a few S-10's laying around so that will work great. Also that looks like a very easy fit and should work nicely. I'll let you guys know when I get that far.

I thought you were going with bear claws

Is this going to be in lieu of bear claws?

    Yeah, but...

Can you still shave the doors and have remote access?

I would think so because this is a common thing to do to the lowrider S-10's. I'll check and when I find an answer I'll let you guys know.

    Hi Guys

First I am the owner of the truck that your where linked to. So with that let me apologize to gmcman1965. I did not under stand what he was telling me about my auction being linked. I thought some one was screwing with my auction.

The S-10 door latches worked out great. Takes a little time welding in the metal from the s-10 door but it is a perfect match. I think using the pops to open the door would be real easy. I actualy re-used the orignal handles and the door lock. That all so to a little fab work but makes it look orignal.

    Bigt442,
Welcome to our forum. I apologize for any misunderstanding in linking to your ebay auction. My motivation was strictly my admiration for your fabricating ability and my desire to share it with my AD brethren.
I realize you are selling this truck but do you have other ADs? We need as many "outside the box" thinkers that we can get.
We can be a crazy bunch on here but we have a really good time.
    Again, welcome,
    Gater

This is nearly the same as the design of the bearclaw kits one buys, even mounts in the door the same. Nothing wrong with saving a few bucks. Here's a kit in a 48 and you can see how similar they are, almost looks like they used an S10 as a model. On subsequent kits we've installed we put the latch in the door post, this keeps one from having to run wires into the door and you can run an emergency release cable into the fenderwell area (coupe) or out the bottom on a sedan or truck. This 48 has a remote door opener by Rocky Hinge Company, they incorporate the solenoid right into the bearclaw latch so no cable and solenoid mount are necessary.

Hey there big t that's a nice looking truck that you're selling. I really do like the idea of using the S-10 parts as I am doing an S-10 frame swap and I have the whole truck so I can use the latches. What a great idea and thanks for the pictures they will definately come in handy.

Now here's the kicker, my doors aren't going to swing the same as everyone elses on this site. Mine are going suicide, so that means I've got to look at these pictures and make it work on the other side of the door. Shouldn't be to hard to do, or atleast you made it look easy on your truck. The door popper link I put up is a kit made specifically for the S-10 door latch so I know for sure it will work. Welcome to our little gang.
