I'm working on a serpentine belt swap for my 327 and I don't need the smog pump. I remember reading somewhere about someone simply using a shorter belt? Has anyone heard of this, and if so what size should I get? I've seen a delete pulley for $70 on ebay but if I can get a shorter belt that would be easier (and cheaper!)
you should be able to mesure it. I use to sell belts in the old days and they would just mesure what you needed, or try a cupple to see if it fits... i would go to an old school gas station they have plenty to chose from
Easiest way is to get a buddy to hold some thin string on the side of the crank pulley and you can run it round the pulleys and compress the tensioner with your spare hand (hence the buddy) till you join the two ends of the string, get your bud to mark them and then take it off and lay it straight and measure between two marks, dont get a belt much smaller or bigger as the difference taken up by the tensioner is minimal. ________ MEXICO CITY HOTELS
