Just thought I'd put my first post in here. I bought AHRMA's (Gordon) 1950 Panel truck last summer. He directed me to this site and said that you all were really helpful. Regretfully, due to the work needed on the truck, he had to sell. He was real honest with me and said that the bearings were scored and the cost to fix was rather high. I have been gradually working on things as time and money permit. Just like his posts, I also inherited the panels problems. But I LOVE this truck! Wanted one since I was 16 (55 now). I am not the most knowledgeable mechanic, but I read every post I can find on panels, 235's and whatever else looks like it could help. I am currently checking on the best route to take with the 50. Getting a few prices on rebuilding, a few more on another 235. The present one in there is a 55. Thanks for any help you guys can give because I will probably post a bunch once I get going. Brian
PS Just stuck a pic up in the gallery.

    Bad News Brian

I'm sorry to have to tell you that truck is NO GOOD ! unless you get rid of it you'll be impotent in two weeks

Being the good fella I am , I'll come fetch it friday , O.K. ?

    Seriously , that's a sweet looking truck there .

The 235 in it now ~ it knocks ? be explicit about the ' scored bearings ' please ~ can you post clear , well illuminated pix of the bearing journals ? .

These old tech engines are very sturdy and were designed for road side fasrmer fixes to work and last a long time so it may not be as bad as you think , even if it's shot there's an affordable option to get it running again soon .

WELCOME to our little group .

That is a beautiful panel wagon. Do you have anymore pictures? I'm currently restoring a 52 model and my dad owns a 54. It's not everyday you see a panel, that's why I like mine so much.

Welcome, Brian! GREAT ride you have!!! And you need / plan to do what to it? Trust me, this is now your home. If these guys can put up with me, you'll do fine!
(Too bad it's not a GMC. Like Nate said, give it to him, or you'll be sorry!)

Seriously, engine problems with a 235? Give Nate a PM, give him you number, have him call you, put the phone against your blocks port side, and let the "Six Whisperer" do his thing. Once you hang up, start your truck- you won't believe the difference!

I'd darn near trade you my GMC for that ride of yours...
