I know this is an old question, but I did a search and did not get any hits. Is the VIN located anywhere else besides the plate on the drivers side door post?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Jeff, what year are you talking about?

AD's only s/n are on the door pillar. Do you have one? We can decode it.

Yes and no ~ on my old 1946 3100 , I discovered the VIN stamped into the top of the frame on the left forward side where the inner fenderwell covered it .

AD's , no . only that doggoned easily removable tag on the left 'A' pillar has it.

These plates are often scrubbed clean of paint or have been painted over repeatedly but the VIN will always be visable as it is stamped in .

Thanks for the info. I have a 49 I'm working on and just wanted to see is it was anywhere else besides the plate on the door post. Thanks again.
