For those of you who might think that I'm a purist, let me share this picture with you.

Dad's '34 Ford PU. Credentials? '55 265 cu in Corvette V-8 with '57 milled heads. Duntov 3/4 race cam, mallory ignition, 3-deuce Rochester carbs and lake pipes.

    Now that's a rod!

This is a cool truck fella's. I've seen it for myself and it really is a sight to see. Maybe she'll run for us this trip in.

Being somewhat of an accomplished photographer I will say that is one precious shot. Incredible clarity. Looks like it was taken with a medium format camera. The camera of choice back then would have been a Rolleiflex. would you happen to know if I am correct? Been looking for a good one for several years. Bought three off ebay. They were all misrepresented and sent back. Seems that I couldn't get a good one for $600.00 to $800.00. Wasn't willing to spend $1000.00. Kept one of them for a week and shot three rolls of film before I was disatisfied with the way the camera was working and sent it back. When the pics came back from the lab, they looked exactly like that shot of your dad. Clarity, sharpness, contrast and something we call "pop" that few cameras have. Regret now sending that one back to the seller. Should have kept it and spent the extra $300.00 it would have cost to fix it.

    Great shot...really.

    So You Mean To Say.....

    ...That you still have Dad's truck ? wow , that's GREAT ! .

I'm the baby of 6 children and the _ONLY_ gearhead so naturally the 1937 Bently St. James Coupe was ruined by my idiot brother then junked in 1969 or 1970......

Both your dad and the truck , look VERY sharp ! .

    Chrome is King!

And this baby had a bunch. Dad cut a deal with the guy who owned the chrome shop in Omaha. He swapped out mechanical work in exchange for getting parts chromed. The truck had chrome brake drums, backing plates, you name it, it was chrome! Being the jr. member in the crew, guess who got to shine the chrome before each show? You got it:D Here I'd go to each show with my toothbrush, can of Dupont No. 7, and plenty of clean towels. Probably why i'm not too fond of wire spoke wheels today;)

Yeah Nate, it's still in the family and mom keeps it nice and shiny!

    Ken,

Official photo by the military? Just as suspected. medium format or even large format camera. Serious quality stuff. Bet the original print looks even better than the thumbnail.

Andy, those military guys had all of the best stuff!

I've gotta correct myself. The back of the 8X10 says "OFFICIAL USAF PHOTOGRAPH BY 544th Recon Tech Group (SAC) OFFUTT AFB, NEBRASKA". I wish I could find the base photographer's photo of the truck in front of SAC headquarters with the "Minuteman" missles in the foreground!

    I'm Wondering...

...Do you still have the trophies ? .

I also noticed the incredible level of paint detail in the unpainted rivet on the fender support ~ even Henry didn't do that ! .

    :D

    Still got 'em

Can't remember the number of them, but still have all of the trophies from 2 years of drag racing it in El Paso and 3 years on the midwest car show circuit. BTW, the unpainted rivet is chrome:D
