Guys believe it or not, but I've cut a lot of trees from the engine compartment, just to get the car out of the field. Just cause there's a tree in it doesn't mean she's a lost cause. Love the pic.
Been there, done that, Kevin! The '40 Chevy sedan delivery that I have in my "member's galleries" photos had a tree growing between the front bumper and grill when I first spotted it in a field on Ben Nanny's farm. After I pestered him for months, he made me a deal. "Ken" he said, "If you can move that old junkpile away without skinnin' my tree, you can have it." With the precision of a surgeon, I removed 5 very rusted bolts holding the bumper and front splash apron, eased her back with the aid of our trusty F*rd red belly tractor, reworked the brakes enough to get pedal and waited on dad to get there so that we could drag her home. That mighty oak still stands today! Mylow and Kevin, thanks for the memories!!
The first car I did this way was a 46 ford coupe. The car is no longer with us, but she is on the road. That was also my first encounter with a great dane. Imagine this a 8-9 year old kid with a full grown great dane looking down at me (yes we were both standing and he was still looking down on me) and I have a saw in my hand. Boy was I scared to death.
GMC Tree Farm Well ; It is a GMC so no surprise they allowed this to happen....... (ducks & runs for cover)
