how bad is it to install the mustand II front end in a 50 gmc while the motor is still in? i have found a kit that bolts in instead of weld in.

I'm no AD expert, but I believe the front end of Chevy and GMC frames are different when it comes to crossmember placement and shape. Be REAL sure this bolt in kit will bolt to a GMC frame before you give up your $$$$. Don't just go by the common misconception that GMCs and Chevies are the same.

If it were me I wouldn't even think of doing this swap with the engine in the vehicle. Too much danger of the engine falling plus the agrivation factor of working around it. Just pull it and the job will be much easier.

Anyone more experienced in differences between GMC and Chevy frames please comment. Maybe I'm full of $hi+ (a given) and causing grief for wschmpn. I just know the longer GMC engine causes pieces to be farther forward in the GMC and don't want wschmpn to rip this truck apart and then abandon it when the Mustang II kit doesn't fit.

Then again, I'd be delighted if someone with first hand experience would say "no problem".

ws - not sure if this is what you might be looking for, but I found this on ebay - search for item #150173432436. description says: S10 Frame Swap Kit for 1947-55.1 Chevy GMC trucks 53 54. the listing also mentions a website to checkout and ask questions, maybe they can help:www.AD-Engineering.com. I got a frame hitch from him several years ago and was quality.
