I finally finished my pickup. It was a long 2 year restoration, but worth it. I took the truck to a local indoor carshow here. Results: "Best in Class" , "Best Truck Engine" and I was invited to bring the pickup to an Invitational Carshow at Mohegan Sun Casino July 4th weekend. I have a 53 5 window with a 235 & 3 speed. I had my engine rebuilt with a mild cam from Patricks. I bought Fenton Headers & the Offy Dual Intake, added 2 Rochester B carbs from CD. I painted the engine, finned Valve Cover, finned side plate, fuel filter, carburetors and beehive oil filter -POR15 Corvette engine blue. I bought pine boards for the bed. The cab is silver and the body is cinnamon firemist. I still need to attach a fulton sunvisor, rear gravel guard, 5 rims from stocton wheel that have all been painted. I have 3:55 gears on order with Patricks. The wheels from stockton are 7" and the sidemount spare is 5". I still need to to put the BFG Wide Whitewalls on the rims. The front tires 225/70R15, rear tires are 255/70R15 and the sidemount 205/75R15. All will have a Chevrolet hubcap with letters that pretty much match my paint job. I've done everything except rebuild the engine and start the engine. I didn't cover the seats in Naugahyde, but did put in the carpeting. I didn't paint the truck. I made some mistakes along the way in learning, but have had some friends help me understand how to fix them. A lifetime dream of building a hotrod has given me a truck that will last the rest of my life. I'm happy with the results. Now if I can get Tech1 to help me figure out how to share the photo's I have of the truck it would take away some frustrations. I want to thank CD for maintaining this Discussion Forum - that allowed me to learn from the mistakes of others. I also want to thank those people that contribute their time and expertise to helping the rest of us learn. Nate thanks for answering all my dumb questions when others woulddn't say anything! Best Regards to All Ken Note: For a long time I've heard reference to a Stovebolt, but never knew what it was. There is a great article on the internet about how Chevrolet came up with the name "Stovebolt Six". Search for 1929 Chevrolet Stovebolt Six.
Congratulations! I can't wait to see the pictures. I am working on '53 5 window myself. I am at 2 years and counting. Getting close.

RE: Truck Pix Wow indeed ! . I like the lettering you added . My truck might look that nice when the next guy owns it , after I'm dead . -Nate
Looks like the car show judges knew what they were doing when they gave you Best in Class. That sure is one awesome truck. You did that all in two years? Impressive.
