We put the first 47-53 one piece windshield in today that we've done. Have seen several at car shows and they seemed to have quite a bit of distortion. Looking through them from the outside they do but are quite distortion free from the inside out. They are a bit pricey and definitely for the modified guys but are different. Prefer the 54/55.1 cab with the 47-53 front but they're getting a little scarce so there will probably be more call for this setup. 1. Front view 2. Distortion from the outside--note what looks like two boosters on Mod.A 3. Looking to right from drivers seat--little distortion 4. Looking straight ahead from drivers seat
Dad gummit, Evan! Is that a '32 Duece coupe and a '55-57 T-Bird in the background? Will you adopt me? Really! I'm a good kid! I've run out of things to say about your craftsmanship!!
...that looks awesome without the moulding in the middle.... that second picture almost looks like it might be chopped a couple inches.....
Nice Work That looks O.K. but I prefer the stainless divider . John-John , the Diesel Mechanic / Hot Rodder in my shop who has a custom '49 3100 , did this and he's quite pleased with it .
Hey Evan, That's what I'm building. A 55.1 with a 47-53 nose on it. But I'm keeping the stock drivetrain and not rodding it. That's the look I like as well. Andy
Hey Evan have you ever used the butted together glass. You have no center chrome strip and it is V'd but just two peices butted together. No distortion at all and looks great. This is the only windshield that I'm considering putting in mine. If you haven't seen them then check them out.
I have done several V butted windshields and liked the looks. They were sealed at the joint with clear silicone and didn't leak but did have the plastic laminate between the layers start to form blisters after a few years in the Texas sun (I do the same after a few hours). I think the edges being in a rubber channel prevented blistering for many years but even factory ones cloud up and blister eventually. Here is a pic of a Brand X that was done 20 years ago and since it has two flat windshields butted at the center it is just like those of an AD.
