Can the dash be taken out of a 48 pickup?

Mine has some spots that need to be repaired and I would prefer to not cut, weld and grind inside the truck

What Brian said ~ it is spot welded into place and is tricky to remove but it =is- do-able if you're a good baoyman .

To split the pinchwelds , use and old bit of broken leaf spring , grind one end of it flat to make a super thin chisel , works like a charm and the spring shops will usually give you broken springs pieces .

As long as you're fixing the dash , why not make up a nice metal glove box liner . remember to drill the hole for the radio wires up in the TOP rear corner , _never_ the bottom ! .

Add an automatic glove box light too while you're in there...

    SWEET .

Nate is right, it can be removed, but then you are right back where you started, you have to weld inside your cab to put it back. And it will probably be more welding than is needed now.
