Howard M4F cam for a 235????

    I am looking into buying a howard M4F cam from patricks for my chevy 235. Does anyone have experience with the cam. Is it worth the money and does it help with performance? I was debating on whether to go with the M4F cam or a cam from clifford performance but i am unsure of which one is the better deal. any help would be great thanks. i have dual headers and am going to be getting a 4 barrel intake with a holley 390. thanks

    Another cam that i have seen is the bulldog cam from langdons. has anyone ever used this cam and how does it compare to the howard m4f and a clifford cam?

    ASK the cam grinder : will this cam make any power @ 1,100 RPM ? if not , you'd better think long and hard before putting it into your truck else you -may- wind up with another garage queen you don't like driving anywhere...

    If it won't idle smoothly you'll play hob driving in traffic .

    I have the Howard M4F cam in my 1960 235 engine and don't have any real problems with drivability. It does idle with a bit of a lope which I like. The one thing (as Nate mentions) when the RPM's drop a down shift is needed to maintain good power. This normally happens when motoring a long hill. I am also running Fenton headers and twin Rochesters on a dual Offy manifold. You would also benefit from a modified advance curve to get the most benefit at higher rpm.
